Robert W. Strickland (Chairman/CEO)

Bobby began his insurance career in 1967 with Crum & Forster Insurance Group. In 1968 he worked with the North Carolina Department of Insurance as an auditor. In 1969, Bobby acquired a retail insurance agency and along with his father, C. Brantley Strickland established Strickland Insurance Brokers, a North Carolina based Managing General Agency. In 1970, Bobby, Brantley, and Gordon Farrell formed what is today, Strickland Insurance Group. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration/Economics from Atlantic Christian College.

Robert C. Strickland (President, SIG)

Robbie is the President of Strickland Insurance Group, Inc. He began his career in 1989 with Atlantic Casualty in the non-standard automobile business. Robbie helped lead Atlantic Casualty into the Excess and Surplus lines business in 1997 and has served in various management positions within the Group. He received a degree in Finance from East Carolina University in 1989, and is a director of the North Carolina Reinsurance Facility Board of Directors.

C. Bret Strickland (President/Chief Operating Officer)

Bret began his career with Strickland Insurance Brokers as a Marketing Representative in 1997. He started working with Atlantic Casualty as a Marketing Representative in 1999 and was later named Senior Vice President of Marketing in 2001. He was promoted to COO of Atlantic Casualty in 2008 and in 2013, took over as President of Atlantic Casualty. Bret obtained his Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from Campbell University in 1997.

William G. Reynolds (President Emeritus, Atlantic Casualty)

Bill served as President of Atlantic Casualty from 1999-2013 and currently holds the title of President Emeritus. Throughout his years in the insurance industry, he has held numerous executive positions in both insurance company operations as well as wholesale agency operations. Bill’s previous employment includes Preferred Risk Mutual Insurance Company, Burlington/First Financial Insurance Company, Jackson Sumner and Associates, and Southern Insurance Underwriters. He joined the Strickland Insurance Group in December of 1996, serving initially as Senior Vice President of Marketing. Bill holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Iowa and attended graduate school at Drake University where he was awarded a Teaching
Certificate in Business Education.

Marianna S. Tillman (Executive Vice President and Corporate Secretary)

Marianna started her career in various capacities and then as an independent insurance agent in our local insurance agency. She later managed the agency until its sale in 1995. Marianna is now responsible for the corporate business of the companies.

Gregory A. Ricker, CPCU, (Director)

Greg currently serves as a director of the company, and was with Atlantic Casualty as Vice President of Information Systems and Chief Information Officer of the group from 1999-2013. Prior to joining Atlantic Casualty Greg worked for 14 years with Nationwide Insurance Companies in Columbus, Ohio. At Nationwide Greg was a Director in the technical services group working with many of the subsidiary companies integrating technical solutions at an Enterprise level. Greg earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management with concentrations in computer sciences and human resource management from Franklin University.  Greg obtained the designation of CPCU in 1995.

John Curry, CPCU (Vice President of Marketing and Business Development)

John joined Atlantic Casualty in 2010 as Vice President of Marketing and Business Development. He started his career in 1974 with the Western World Insurance Group, where he obtained his CPCU designation and became a Vice President of Marketing and Underwriting. In 1986, he left to become the Executive Vice President of the Jefferson Insurance Company
of New York. Besides the positions he has held in traditional Excess & Surplus lines companies, like Penn-America, he has also worked for a major reinsurer, Constitution Re/ Gerling Global. While there, he handled facultative, treaty and primary business for the group. John most recently worked for a Bermuda Insurance Group which had a Lloyds’ underwriting syndicate. For this group, John created a US insurance company that became A rated and started writing Excess & Surplus lines business. John has a bachelors of Arts degree from St. Francis University in Loretto, PA. and obtained the designation of CPCU in 1995.

L. Paul Aycock (Vice President – Marketing Services)

Paul can trace his beginnings in the insurance industry to 1991 at Atlantic Casualty in the accounting department. From there he served as Research & Development and Product Manager of private passenger auto, before moving to Vice President of Operations-Private Passenger Auto Division. He has recently been named Vice President, Marketing Services for Atlantic Casualty commercial lines. Paul holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Campbell University in North Carolina.

Stephen M. Westfield, CPA (Chief Financial Officer)

Steve started his career with Plante & Moran, a large regional Certified Public Accounting firm in Michigan. Steve joined Michigan Lawyers Mutual Insurance Company in 1994 and in 2002 he was named Vice President of Finance, CFO and Treasurer. Steve joined Strickland Insurance Group early in 2009 as Chief Financial Officer. He is responsible for all of the financial and accounting matters for the group. Steve earned a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree, with an Accounting major, from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo. He also obtained his Certified Public Accountant certification in 1986.

Lawrence McAuliffe, CPCU (Vice President, Claims)

Larry began his insurance career in Maryland with Sentry Insurance as a claims attorney. He joined American Claims Service, Inc. in 2004 as the Litigation Manager. In 2011, Larry was promoted to Vice President – Claims. His background includes handling claims involving auto, general liability, property, workers compensation, subrogation and coverage disputes. Larry earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston College and his Juris Doctor from Loyola University School of Law in New Orleans. He is a member of the North Carolina bar. Larry obtained the designation of CPCU in 1992.

Brian Schwarzbach (Vice President – Underwriting)

Brian began his career in 1984 and started with Atlantic Casualty in 2007 as Marketing Manager. In 2008, Brian was named Director of Product Development and in 2009 he was named Vice President of Underwriting. He previously served as Vice President of Construction Programs for RISC, Inc., a large wholesale general agency, serving the Western portion of the United States. Prior to that, Brian was Vice President of The GAINSCO Companies. He has many years of experience with a variety of surplus line carriers, in underwriting, product development and marketing positions.

Chris Stratton, AINS (Vice President – Information Systems)

Chris began his insurance career in 2005, when he worked for a large publicly held property and casualty insurance company and held the position of Software Development Manager. In 2010, Chris joined Atlantic Casualty where he served as Project Manager until 2013 when he was promoted to Vice President of Information Systems and responsible for the day to day operations of the IT department. Prior to the insurance industry, Chris and a partner started a web development company in 1994. This was the beginning of a series of start-ups in which he was involved during the dot.com years. It was during that time he was exposed to a number of software technologies and software development methodologies. Chris obtained his degree from the University of Georgia with a BA degree in Economics and holds an AINS.
